Just Jinjer

Just Jinger with their new self-titled album has once again taken the South African market by storm. They signed up a new record-deal with non other than SONY BMG, and this step might just show that their roots are still firmly here in good old SA, or at least Art’s.

The new album features hits such as What He means (a song that appeals to all of the world for peace), Till I’m done, Time of your life, and also includes reworked versions of Here’s to you, Home and She knows and much more.

The album also boasts with some brand new songs, such as Shine on you & Steady. This album marks their ten years of being South Africa’s top recording rock-group, and overseas they are making name too, being named “buzz band” of the week recently.

Art Matthews’s status as South Africa’s most accomplished songwriter sure reflects in this album yet again, and as he and drummer Brent Harris and bassist Denholm Harding now teamed up with producer Sandy Chila, promises only good things for the future. This Just Jinger foursome has yet again created an album of such elegance and accomplishment that yet again this longstanding group sets the benchmark for rock music in SA and abroad, and as Santa Monica Daily Press’ Kurt Heim described the Jingers as “serving up invigorating melodies and a butt-shaking backbeat” during a gig at the well-known Temple Bar in WilShire Boulevard, LA.

This album sure needs more airplay on South African radio, and is definitely worth a listen. Next time you visit your local music store, support South African music by at least listening to it… you might just like it!!
