THE LIVE BAND
If summer was made for partying then Jesse Jordan Band was made for summer. Performing commercial rock, simultaneously aggressive and melodic, Jesse Jordan Band is able to lead a crowd down an emotional roller coaster of their choosing. Their ballads stir the soul, their rock ‘n roll demands your attention and their spectacular crowd interaction will make you want to party as hard as the band themselves!
And just in case you consider all of the above as mere clever marketing hype, allow the facts to speak for themselves: In as little as three years Jesse Jordan Band has seen two of their singles, “There Goes My Mind” and “Moneyline” chart on all major commercial radio stations, including 5FM & RSG, with an added soundtrack inclusion on SABC 3’s “Going Nowhere Slowly”! This alone is a feat few local rock bands can boast of.
Their success story, however, does not end there. Apart from being featured on SL Magazine’s “Unearthed” compilation, which in SA music terms is an instant media & industry endorsement, the band has allowed the public to speak for itself, performing to sold-out crowds at such diverse major events as KKNK, Aardklop, Woodstock 5, Cederbergfees, Rock The Bay, Knysna Oyster Festival and a host of other entertainment hotspots around the country, more than holding their own against the crème of SA talent, proving once and for all the band’s ability to appeal to a broad cross-section of the nation’s population, cultural and musical differences notwithstanding.
Jesse Jordan Band is obviously a band accustomed to live performances. An energetic stage act topped with awesome musical talent and powerhouse rock vocals all add to make the band one of the nation’s leading entertainment packages. It comes as no surprise therefore that the band is in much demand and it is not unusual to see JJB embark on yet another jam-packed touring schedule, such as their highly successful tour during the summer of 2003, which saw holiday-goers from all around the country attending one or more of their successful coastal shows.
South African rock bands are a dime a dozen. Given a music scene that some critics would describe as dismally small with little chance of growth, Jesse Jordan Band breathes life into the hopes and dreams of many, proving that not only can South African bands rock as big and hard as their international counterparts, but that they are well able to build a local fan base and give much needed credibility to the music scene from which they were forged. |
